dc.description.abstracten The article describes the main futurological projects which influenced modern media culture. Media and information are becoming the necessary ingredients of all novel futurological theories. Practice testifies that history and theory of the media is in the plane of socio-cultural discourse and cannot be viewed out of media relations with a society and its cultural transformations. Research of futurology and its ties with media are significant as futurological prognosis of «communication futurology» are in many ways accomplished so their investigation gives the possibility to look forward, include logic, philosophy and tendencies of modern media development. Topicality of the research is well-grounded by including the course «Theory of media and society» into the curriculum for obtaining Master’s degree, where theoretical concepts of society are firmly connected with media theory and practice. The aim of the article is to show how futurological theories of society are linked to modern media culture and realized in its 82 Обрії друкарства, № 1 (4) / 2015 artifacts. In this article we refer not only to the ideas of researchers-communicativists but also to novel theories of singularity and transhumanism. The important task was also to trace philosophy and logic of Christian futurology and its influence on modern media culture. Clip culture, hyper reality, transcultural and cross-cultural projects are foreseen and described in the works of E. Toffler and other well-known philosophers. As to the brilliant prognosis of G.Innes and M. Maccluen their understanding of society concerning the development of media discovered the main symptoms of future culture = globalization, visualization singularity, рппрbroadening of people’s organs of feeling, shortening of time and distance, etc. Theories of singularity and transhumanism as well as M. Maccluen’s prognosis stress the role of technology in the society of the future. Christian futurology does not lag behind in these theories in realization of media narratives. The article shows that futurological theories of society are tightly linked to modern media culture and influence all its components. uk
