dc.description.abstracten	In this article the author, through the prism of contemporary Eastern Christian theological thought, examines the specific nature and purpose of the theological search for the truth. He emphasizes the inner, experiential nature of theological knowledge. The internal character of theologizing is presented in its two dimensions: the human person as the milieu of the deepest spiritual and ontological dialogue with God, and the divine-human reality of the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ. The author considers the main criteria for an adequate understanding of theological gnoseology. The main accent is put on the significance of the «living» and experiential reality of Divine Revelation and Divine Tradition as the object of theological investigation and on the problems of the anthropological bases of theology. The author also considers the difference between the «method» of theological investigation and the method of scientific research on which religious studies are based.	uk
